Old Bradfieldian Cricket Club - THE WAIFS
The Bradfield Waifs Cricket Club was founded in 1877. The Waifs play about 20 days of good standard club cricket each summer. A selected side plays each year in the Cricketer Cup - a 50-over knock-out competition for 32 schools. The Waifs have won this prestigious competition on three occasions in 1996, 1997 and 2005 as well as reaching the final in 1999 and 2002.
The Waifs play most of their home matches at the College on Pit, widely regarded as one of the most beautiful grounds in the country. A highlight of the season is Waifs Week, which is played at Bradfield in early July with a mixture of one and two day matches. The social side of the week is legendary, with an opportunity for the older members to enjoy the cricket and the formal dinners.
