We were delighted to welcome our 3 most senior OBSS members, on the left Christopher Elgood (C 46-51) Shooting VIII 1948/49/50/51. In the centre Colin Shaw Stewart (A 46-51) Shooting VIII 1948/49/50/51 and Captain 1950 & 51. On the right Stephen Skurray (E 46-50) Shooting VIII 1948/49/50.
Colin once again volunteered to act as team Adjutant organising everyone behind the firing point which allowed the coaches, Simon Dixon and Guy Van Koetsveld to concentrate on their task.
We entered 2 teams of 5 in the Schools Veterans' competition but these days anything less than 5 possibles is unlikely to feature at the top of the prize List. Indeed, Old Epsomians were winners dropping only 15 V bulls for a score of 250.35 out of a maximum of 250.50. So on our A team score of 245.29 we were 10th. In the second team competition we were 7th on 241.23.
After the shooting we retired to the veranda of the North London Rifle Club for refreshments following which 17 of us including our guests from the College, James Dixon (F 14-19) and Christian Cuming current pupil M House accompanied by shooting master Steve Bates, sat down to a delicious meal.
With the resurgence of shooting at Bradfield under enthusiastic Steve Bates and the talented shots coming through the College, it looks as if we will need to enter 3 teams next year which is excellent news.
