The Queen's Prize is shot in three stages over three days in July at the Bisley ranges in Surrey, the First Stage is 7 shots at 300x, 500x and 500x. 884 shooters competing for 300 places in the Second Stage also shot over the same distances but with 10 shots to count at each. Elliot was shooting well enough to go through to the Second Stage where his 149.20 placed him 21st. The top 100 carry their Second Stage scores with them to compete in this the 150th Sovereign's Prize Meeting held on the Final Saturday. Elliot held his nerve going clean at both 900x and 1000x making a magnificent total score of 299.39 much to the excitement of his many supporters standing behind the firing point. His magnificent score placed him 2nd equal meaning he had to fire 5 tie shots to decide the 2nd and 3rd places. Unfortunately, Elliot twice strayed into the inner meaning he had to settle for third place but a magnificent achievement for one so young. I wonder if he will eventually be taking over from Bradfield's world beating Nick Tremlett?
