A mixed start to the season

OBFC 6 - 4 Shrewsbury (H)

A week later after the training at Bradfield, the Old Bradfieldian team strutted back onto the pitch at Hampton Sports Centre, known by locals as the OB fortress, a place of very few lost points. Despite conceding a number of cheap goals the boys ran away 6-4 winners on a day that will always be remembered for two goals scored directly from kick offs one after another. Sharp as a knife, Sam Iglesias let fly from a restart catching it sweetly and scoring arguably the best goal of his career. As the celebrations ensued, Shrewsbury opposition quickly returned to the centre circle and knocked one straight back over all the Bradfield heads to make it 2-2. A moment that will likely be told around dinner tables at OB houses for the next 50+ years.

Old Harrow 4-3 OBFC (A)

Matchday 2 away at Harrow proved much less entertaining and a very bitter pill for the squad to swallow as Harrow ran out 4-3 winners in a close encounter which was largely settled by the abilities of a truly outstanding centre forward playing for Harrow side.

Still early days in the season although the rumblings around the dressing room that this is the best OB squad in recent memory will have to be backed up with a consistent run of results before we evaluate if this team can mix it with the best in the league and cup.
