Extract taken from his obituary in The Bradfield Chronicle July 1944.

Flight Lieutenant Hugh Percy was one of a number of boys who, coming from Taverham Hall (of which his father was headmaster) have done well at Bradfield. He was at Hillside from 1933-38, entering as a Scholar. He had a most likeable personality, good natured and unruffled, but with plenty of firmness when required. He became head of the house and was in the Football XI. He was up at St John's College, Cambridge, when war broke out, and as a member of the University Air Squadron was automatically drafted into the RAF. He had much experience with night fighters and later as an instructor. He was shot down from the sea early this summer [1944 ] when returning from a reconnaisance flight [in a MkXIV Spitfire of 610 Squadron] over France and though he had time to bale out, it is greatly feared that he was drowned. His death is a great loss and he had endeared himself to all who knew him.

An article about Hugh appears in the forthcoming Bradfieldian magazine's May issue commemorating this 75th anniversary.
