Last week we were trying to identify an Old Bradfieldian album from the archive that is full of the most wonderful photos from the early 1950’s. Thanks to the kindness and excellent memory of a contemporary OB, we can at last put a name to the album! He suggested the boy in the photos we asked you to identify was Michael Stone from E House OB (1949-53). Sure enough, a quick look through the E House archive and we quickly confirmed this was the chap whose album we have. A lot of the E House photos are named and dated so we could be doubly sure.

Once identified his name seemed to come up everywhere for this period in College history. Michael Stone was a Senior Prefect in 1954 and a member of the Discussion Society, the Moliere Society and the Shakespeare Society. He was also a member of the Archaeology Society, the Games Committee and won the Halstead Declamation Prize in 1953. He was Head of Corps in the OTC, played in the 1st Hockey XI, was a keen member of the Boxing team as well as the Athletics team and acted in all the major school productions. An amazing all-rounder one might say.

Now we can put this information in the box with the album and we have a most charming and comprehensive narrative of a young man’s life here at Bradfield College in the early post war era.

Something future generations will be fascinated to read about too we hope.

Pictured below are photos from the E House album and Michael Stone's album.
