Captain Frederick Harold Montague Murdoch (C 28-33) died aged 25 years on 21 May 1940 while serving with the 4th Royal Tank Regiment Royal Armoured Corps. His death is recorded on the Dunkirk Memorial and remembered by us today at Bradfield 80 years on.

During his time at Bradfield he was in Army House, becoming Head of House and a Prefect, in the Football XI 1931-2 (see photograph above), the Boxing VIII 1929-33 and Captain in 1933 along with the Running VIII in 1932.

After Bradfield he enlisted to the South Staffordshire Regiment before being recommended for a commission and entering the Royal Military College at Sandhurst in 1935 and the Royal Tank Corps in 1936, becoming Captain in 1939. He won the Middleweight category in the Inter-Services Competition on several occasions during his time in the Army.
